How do I maximise my chances of getting matched on hackajob?

If you are not seeing roles in Apply, or you have not received any requests yet, it usually comes down to timing, preferences, or missing profile detail.

First, check these quick things:

Is your profile Live?

If your profile is Off the market, you will not be visible to employers and you will not receive new matches.

Is your profile complete?

If key information is missing, Archer has less context to work with and employers have less to evaluate. A few small gaps can make a big difference.

The updates that usually unlock matches

Location preferences

Add any locations you would genuinely commute to or relocate to. If you are only looking for remote roles, make sure remote is selected and onsite or hybrid are not selected.

Contract type

If you are open to contract and permanent roles, select both. If you only select one, you will see fewer matches.

Roles and seniority

Make sure the roles you selected are roles you would genuinely take. Adding extra titles can increase matches, but only if they reflect what you actually want.

Check that seniority levels match your commercial experience. This helps avoid mismatched roles at the wrong level.

Skills and experience detail

This is one of the biggest drivers of match quality.

In your experience section, include the tools, systems, technologies, and methods you used in each role. If your work is not naturally “tool-based”, focus on the type of work you did and the outcomes you delivered.

Add at least a few responsibilities or achievements per role. Concrete examples help both Archer and employers understand your experience properly.

If you have managed people, include details such as whether you were hands-on, the size of the team, and the kind of responsibilities you owned.

Right to work and security clearance

If these apply to you, keep them accurate and up to date. A mismatch here can block otherwise relevant roles.

Salary expectations

If your salary expectations are set above or below the market for your level or location, matches may be limited. If you are seeing no matches at all, it can be worth reviewing this setting.

Industry and company size preferences

If you have restricted industries or company sizes, you may be narrowing the pool more than you realise. If you are early in your search, staying a little more open can help you see more options.

References and portfolio links

References can help build credibility, especially for contract roles.

If you have a portfolio, personal site, or external profile that shows your work, add it. It gives employers more context when deciding whether to reach out.

Still not seeing matches?

These updates take effect as Archer continuously reviews new roles, so changes you make today can start unlocking matches quickly.

If you've made these updates and still aren't seeing matches, it may simply come down to current market demand or the number of live roles available for your profile — factors that can change quickly. We're adding new companies and roles all the time, so it's worth turning on daily or weekly notifications so you're alerted as soon as new matches appear.
